Denmark powers-up
The Danish Parliament has passed significant amendments to the Danish Competition Act
by William Alexander Tornøe and Jesper Kaltoft
In a significant legislative move, the Danish Parliament recently passed a bill containing far-reaching amendments to the Danish Competition Act. The new provisions slated for enforcement from 21 July 2024 confer new and wide-reaching enforcement powers to the Danish Competition and Consumer Authority (DCCA), a step that the Danish government justifies as a catalyst for more robust competition, fostering growth and consumer welfare. However, despite these intentions, the reform has not passed without critical feedback from bodies such as the Association of Danish Law Firms and the Danish Bar and Law Society.
