Australian government to propose stronger merger laws including mandatory notification from 2026

The Australian government has announced it will be introducing significant changes to the country's competition laws. According to treasurer Jim Chalmers, the past two decades in Australia has seen increased concentration in important sectors coupled with growing mark-ups by businesses.
