Stagnation or expansion?

Some of the latest statistics on dawn raids collected by law firm White & Case make for interesting reading. They indicate that between 2018 and 2023 European Economic Area (EEA) and UK competition authorities carried out 336 dawn raids. It also clear from the statistics that the lull in the number of dawn raids being carried out during the pandemic has now ended. In 2023 the Commission carried out seven raids, up from four in 2022 and 2021. Equally the German Federal Cartel Office went from two raids in 2021 to 12 in 2022 and 11 in 2023. There appears to be a general trend across the EEA of a post-pandemic surge in dawn raids.
