Six-figure settlement for head injury at work

A man who was injured in a fall at work has received a six-figure settlement for a head injury. He was in the warehouse on a step ladder when it slipped causing him to fall backwards onto the concrete floor. The ladder had no rubbers attached to the bottom of it to prevent it from slipping. He sustained a skull fracture and brain bleed with a few hours of amnesia. Osbornes said the defendant’s solicitor initially accepted primary liability but stated that the man did not use the ladder correctly and proposed a reduction for contributory negligence. The claim was settled out of court.
