The defendant was the carrier of a cargo of 50,000 mt of yellow soybeans, on a voyage from Louisiana to Egypt on board its vessel Doric Valour in August 2020. The cargo had been sold by the first claimant to an Egyptian company, Oilex, for US$21,565,102.82. Bills of lading were issued dated 4 August 2020. The lawful holder of the bills of lading at discharge was Oilex.
