New provisions for the oversight of architects in ss157-159

The Building Safety Act 2022 in ss157-159 makes new provisions for the oversight of architects by the Architects Registration Board. In addition to a new power to make more transparent disciplinary orders against architects, it also empowers the Architects Registration Board to monitor and assess the competence of architects for the duration of their professional career via a continuing professional development scheme for registered architects. The new scheme will also enable the Board to strike off the Register an architect who does not meet the requisite standard of competence. The Act also creates a new Appeals Committee and makes provision for the Board to be able to charge a fee in respect of the services which it provides.
