American Chemical Society warning over cosmetic preservatives

Chemical & Engineering News (C&EN), the weekly news magazine of the American Chemical Society, has warned that the shrinking list of approved cosmetic preservatives is having unintended consequences. It explained that in recent years, environmental groups have been “calling out” cosmetic preservatives as suspected endocrine disruptors, cancer-causing agents and skin irritants, and the campaigns have resulted in new restrictions on certain preservatives.
