Relaunch of Adjudication Pilot Scheme for professional negligence claims

The Adjudication Pilot Scheme was first launched for professional negligence claims in February 2015 under the supervision of Mr Justice Ramsey. The Pilot Scheme was inspired by the adjudication scheme for construction disputes, and was intended to enable parties to obtain a binding decision quickly and economically within 56 days. Adjudication is now written into the Pre-Action Protocol for Professional Negligence as “a process by which an independent adjudicator provides the parties with a decision that can resolve the dispute either permanently or on a temporary basis, pending subsequent court determination” (paragraph 12.2(d)).
