Working together? Digital currencies, Interpol and the banking sector

The announcement at the beginning of September of an Interpol working group on digital currencies and money laundering marks yet another step along the journey of acceptance for virtual and digital currencies. Banks and other financial institutions might be reticent about including digital currency technology into their systems, but it would appear criminals do not share those doubts. So what exactly are the concerns that have warranted Interpol and their European partners at Europol, to join forces with the Basel Institute of Governance and create a specific working group together?
