Container growth plans for Panama Canal

A new container port on the western side of the Panama Canal is set to boost services for the larger vessels due to transit the Canal, as Joseph Botham, of Holman Fenwick Willan, reports


On 7 October, 2016 the Autoridad del Canal de Panamá (ACP) issued a request for proposals in relation to the award of a 20-year concession, with a 20-year extension option, to design, develop, finance, construct, operate and maintain a container terminal (the Corozal Container Terminal) in the area of Corozal (the Corozal Port Project). The request for proposals was issued to APM Terminals, Terminal Link, Terminal Investments and PSA International who qualified for bidding on the Corozal Port Project (as published by ACP on 28 April 2016) following their responses to a request for qualifications which was issued by ACP in relation to the Corozal Port Project on 25 November 2015.
