Investors need non-financial information

The main theme on the opening day of the UN’s annual financial reporting conference was the role of financial reporting in achieving SDGs. The Secretary General of the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) said that sustainability reporting by corporates could highlight progress towards SDGS. Pablo Perez Rodriquez, of the FSB, argued that information about environmental and other impacts was essential to support cross-border investment so that investors could understand the risks faced by the company.
