BLM warning over organised casualty fraud
The government’s efforts to tackle fraudulent motor claims has left the door open for fraudsters to move into organised casualty fraud, with claims nearly tripling in the last five years, law firm BLM has warned. BLM said this has had dramatic repercussions on the insurance industry, with fraudulent claims costing insurers nearly £350 million, and instances rising from 7,403 in 2010 to just under 20,000 in 2014.
