OHIO EXPECTS INSURED LOSSES OF UP TO $57.8M FROM APRIL STORMS
Insured losses from storms that swept through Ohio on April 2 and 3 are expected to be in a range of $52.6m and $57.8m, according to figures compiled by the Ohio Insurance Institute and Property Claims Services. High winds caused heavy damages to vehicles and to the roofs, siding, gutters and windows of homes, the OII said. PCS said that homeowners insurance will account for an estimated 8,700 out of a total of 10,300 claims and $51.5m of the insured losses. Around 900 claims will generate more than $2m in losses, while 700 commercial claims will produce $4.25m in losses. The two-day outbreak of storms also affected nine other eastern states, with insured losses totalling $350m, PCS has estimated.
