In response to the 2009 financial crisis, Congress passed the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act,commonly referred to as “Dodd-Frank”. As part of Dodd-Frank, Congress passed the Non-admitted and Reinsurance Reform Act (NRRA) in an effort to address needed regulatory reforms for non-admitted (or surplus lines) insurance industry and for the reinsurance industry generally.
