Something lost in translation?

The question of fine differences in the meaning of English terms occasionally arises in IASB meetings, and sometimes board members raise issues about the difficulty of translating these. The Korean Accounting Standards Board (KASB) has been conducting research in conjunction with the Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASB), and has come to the conclusion that perceptions of meaning in relation to expressions of likelihood are different across their standards. They also note that not all the different expressions used in IFRS can be translated into Korean.
