LIABILITY, LIMITATION AND COMPENSATION FOR PASSENGERS’ CLAIMS

1 INTRODUCTION

Carriers who perform passenger carriage services are faced with different risks and liabilities than carriers who transport cargoes. Managing risks involved with passenger vessels has become more complex, particularly with regard to modern and large cruise ships carrying a large number of people, as shown by the accident of the Costa Concordia (see and 2, above).
