French anti-piracy law fails to stem piracy

France’s strict new anti-piracy laws have failed to stem the rise of online copyright infringement, according to a recent study.

The research, undertaken by the University of Rennes, found that use of illegal sites which fall under the Hadopi regulations has dropped a few percent since the law was introduced, however, usage of those sites not covered has shot up by nearly a third.
