Lego files trademark suit against Project Legos
UNITED STATES – Danish toymaker Lego has filed a trademark infringement suit against US youth charity Project Legos. The suit claims that the group, set up to help at-risk youths, used the name “to trade off the significant goodwill symbolised by and the strong public recognition of the Lego marks.” Lego also claims that by using the internet domain name www.projectlegos.org, the non-profit is acting “with a bad faith intent to benefit from the goodwill in the Lego marks”. Project Legos has denied the allegations, saying that the name is an acronym for: Leadership, Empowerment, Growth, Opportunity and Sustainability.
