MAKING THE CONTRACT: PLACEMENT

INTRODUCTION

11.1 As described in Chapter 10, placement describes the process whereby a reinsurance contract is “placed” usually by a placing broker (on behalf of the reinsured) with a reinsurer. What is said and done during the placement process is critical to the parties’ legal relationship.
