The Nature of Maritime Claims
2.1
The phrase “maritime claim” is used in the Conventions Relating to the Arrest of Sea Going Ships 1952 and 1999 as the general label describing all the claims in relation to which a ship may be arrested under the Convention. In English law the phrase has no technical meaning but in this work it is used to describe those claims which are within the Admiralty jurisdiction of the High Court.1
