It is a truth universally acknowledged that a disappointed beneficiary of a deceased's estate will assume that chicanery has been committed in the testamentary process. Legal professionals who advise on contentious probate disputes will be familiar with the enthusiasm with which disinherited clients seize on the concept of undue influence (and its close relative, fraudulent calumny) as the explanation for the lack of provision.
