GALLAGHER ACQUIRES BR RHYMER IN CANADA

US broking group Arthur J Gallagher & Co had broadened its footprint in Canada with the acquisition of BR Rhymer Insurance Agencies, a Winnipeg-based personal- and commercial-lines broker that specialises in motor and homeowners cover. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. BR Rhymer has operated under the Ranger Insurance brand as a franchisee since 1995 but will adopt the Gallagher name as part of Arthur J Gallagher Canada. Gallagher had acquired the Ranger brand as part of its acquisition of Noraxis in 2014. “We have enjoyed a long and successful partnership with BR Rhymer and founder Blaine Rhymer for many years, so when the opportunity came up to acquire this business outright we jumped at the chance,” said Kevin Neiles, president of Gallagher’s Prairies region.
