HENRIQUE MEIRELLES STANDS DOWN FROM LLOYD'S COUNCIL
Henrique Meirelles has stepped down as a member of the Council of Lloyd’s, the corporation announced on Friday. Meirelles, who was appointed to the council in April 2013, has been appointed Brazil’s minister of finance. Meirelles was the longest-serving president of Brazil’s central bank from 2003 through to 2010. Previously, he was president of BankBoston Corporation. In 2002 he was elected a congressman in Brazil. John Nelson, chairman of Lloyd’s, thanked Meirelles for his “thoughtful insight and advice” during his term on the council. “We are delighted he has been appointed as finance minister in the Brazilian government. I want to congratulate him and we wish him every success in this new role.”
